'symbiosis' is part of the selection of filipino contemporary design production that will be in designboom's curated exhibition 'asia now', at dwell on design in los angeles, june 25th - 27th, 2010.

'symbiosis' filipino designer stanley ruiz has created 'symbiosis', a series of wooden speakers which he developed as part of the 'sounds like' ICFF 2010 off-site event which designer joey roth curated. roth invited nine designers and five musicians to reinterpret his ceramic speakers.
'symbiosis' is a further exploration of ruiz's design approach, combining natural materials  with industrial ones, creating a synthesis in an unusual manner. his interpretation of roth's speakers takes a 'lo-fi' approach to product design. here, ruiz has applied found objects such as a tree log and scrap wood available in his studio space to create the structures in which to house the speakers.
